Q For those working in the field!

Workshop for ASD

Understanding the Needs of Students With Autism Spectrum Disorders

NYSED mandatory training in the area of autism spectrum disorders.

*********************

I believe this is a new requirement now.

If you took that 3 hour training. How was it?

I think the only requirement is to attend the 3 hours, right?

What is the content about?

******************

TIA

I teach this training. It goes into the basics of autism: etiology, characteristics, empirically supported strategies for teaching, basic behavior concepts, working together as a team, etc. A test is recommended, so we give a test. It's a very basic training.

Is this a teaching requirement? If it is, I havent been informed. Unless of course I am way too old to need it as part of my license. Ive been grandfathered a bunch of times for a bunch of things.

Im sure she did and I would love to see her presentation. The population of my school has changed from having MANY kids with spectrum disorders to hardcore psychiatric patients. There are very few children on the spectrum where I work. I enjoyed working with that population.
