QOTD! 11/11/13

Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving recipe that you use every year, and that everyone seems to love?

I use the Pioneer Woman's pecan pie recipe.

That's the extent of my Thanksgiving cooking lol

Pumpkin cheesecake and stringbean casserole.
I don't really like to bake but the pumpkin cheesecake was sooo good that I make an exception on Thanksgiving! LOL
The stringbean casserole isn't anything spectacular or difficult to make but my ex mother in law made it every year and I loved it. It became the dish that I prepared every year at her house and I personally love it.

My Grandparent's Sausage Rolls.

It's not specifically a Thanksgiving Recipe but I only make them for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Even though I think he's kind of a douche, Guy Fieri's Whiskey-Glazed Sweet Potatoes is my Thanksgiving go-to for a side.

I have a few, but my carrot soufflé (which is a family recipe) always gets rave reviews. It's a great side dish to roasted meats (e.g., roast turkey!) and can easily be doubled and made ahead.

Carrot Souffle

(Serves 6-8)

1 - 2 lb bag of baby carrots
1 cup of butter, melted
6 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
6 tablespoons of flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Boil carrots until soft; drain well. Blend (in food processor, blender, electric mixer, etc.) with melted butter until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

Butter a baking dish (a soufflé dish or round deep corningware dish works best), or spray with cooking spray, and fill with batter mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. If the top begins to brown too quickly, lower heat to 325 degrees and continue cooking until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Giada's Stuffed Mushrooms are always a big hit!

I was put on dessert duty this year so I need to find some good pie recipes.

We make Dh's Family Stuffing Recipe that everyone loves- it involves: sausage, bacon, white bread, lots of butter & chicken broth.

I also make a roasted greek salad that is a huge hit.
