QOTD 2/15/2010
OOOH Good Morning! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am just counting down the days till I can sleep in for my three day weekend!
So...my question to you lovely pet people, do your pets sleep in bed with you. Adn if they do, do you wish they didn't?

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
He just discovered "the bed" .. he was not allowed on the bed, and then one Sunday he decided to sneak under the covers and take a longggggggg nap.. by the time I noticed the "lump" under the covers, the damage was already done.. now he hangs on the bed with us, and I kick him off right before I go to sleep.. I hate it but I can't say no to his meaows and cries.. sux.. and he was a really comfy dog bed which he has never ever used.. he prefers the couch or our bed.

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
Yes, my kids sleep in bed with me, but they all have their own way about it - I grew up with the dog sleeping bed with me, it's just what we did. DH did not. When we first got Zoey, DH told my father that the dog would not be in bed..my Dad said "yeah...good luck with that..". Dog was in the bed the first night.
Zoey - slept in bed when she wanted. After having her ACL replaced 2 years ago - not as often. She doesn't like to feel crowded. If I am in bed alone, or DH, she gets in bed and wants to be under the covers. BUt if it's not her way it's not at all.
Schultz - when he was alive - slept at my feet curled into the littlest ball a 110 lb dog could do, every night except his last night, when I slept on the floor with him.
Logan - with all the long hair - doesn't like to be too crowded because I think he gets too warm. If I go to bed without DH, I tell Logan "come be the baby" - he gets in bed with me, puts his head on my chest for me to rub his ears. He stays until DH throws him out.
Sam- - sleeps at the bottom of my bed between my feet. Sometime he sleeps between DH and I.
On nights that have been super cold, I tell DH, it's a 2 dog night- Logan and Sam in bed (about 160 lbs of dog between the 2 of them). Logan stays for awhile but leaves when he is too warm, but by then I'm warm so it's ok.
And I only have a queen size bed.

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
I know it's not the best thing to allow, but she does sleep on our bed. Actually, she prefers to burrow under all the covers by my legs. No clue how she breathes under there, but she loves to be covered up.

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
Odie will be up on the bed to either eat a chewie or bury one in the covers. Once he's done and we're about to go to sleep he jumps down and moves around throughout the night, (I'm a light sleeper so I hear him ALL NIGHT) When he's not feeling well, he'll sleep in bed with up or when dh is not in bed he'll stay with me. I think it's the same thing PPs said, he gets too warm

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
They use to but not much anymore. We put pillows down next to the bed and they sleep on those. The main reason I stopped it was because of the shedding. I hated waking up with the hair all over me. I do allow them on the couch (leather) and cuddle with them there. It's much easier to clean

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
More often than not, Bella will sleep in the bed with us, but only on my side. I guess she doesn't like DH's snoring. She curls herself up in the space between my pillow and my nightstand. Sometimes she will sleep in the armchair in my room, that's where I keep an extra blanket.
I just wish that she would sleep past 5am. She's wide awake at that time, prowling the house, getting into mischief and "talking loudly" to get me up and out of bed to play with her.

Yes, my doggie and 2 kitties sleep with us (although the cats come and go throughout the night) and many nights my DD will join us around 3-4 am, so it gets very crowded, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
Yupp, they sleep with us. Two giant dogs, me, and my giant DH (he's 6'8"). Our older dog, Irwin, usually starts out on our bed and winds up on the floor or on the doggy bed in our bedroom until DH gets up in the morning, then he takes his spot. The other dog, Lucy, will not move unless you literally SHOVE her out of the bed, which I usually do about halfway through the night. It'd be fine if she laid down and STAYED there, but she doesn't! She slowly creeps up between us and rolls around and spreads out until finally enough is enough! God they are cute though.

Loki does, he claimed the bed as his territory from our other cat. we dont mind him sleeping with us...its just the first 10-15min the darn cat cannot get comfy! he lies down, gets up, circles, nudges you, lies down, and repeat. Sooooo annoying when your trying to fall asleep! lol

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
Yup! My little guy is always in the bed with us - I don't mind it but FH does. I tell him he has to deal with it, the dog was here before him! Haha
That being said, the next dog will not be sleeping in the bed with us. I got Pico when I was 15 so I loved snuggling with him but now that I share my bed with another human it gets kinda cramped, and he wakes FH up a lot lol

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
Sometimes. Lenny, our cat will only sleep with us once we are asleep and the minute the alarm goes off, he is out of the bed. Toby, our 85 lb golden doodle however, jumps in bed with DH as soon as I get up and remains in bed without us, until I make him get up so i can make the bed.
I love when they sleep with us though, especially if DH isn't home, Toby is a great cuddler!

My cat does...he comes in when we both head to bed.
He will start out wrapped up in DH's arms and end up at the foot of the bed on my feet

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
I'm in the minority here. Neither dog has ever slept on our bed.
Brinkley has an aloof personality so he prefers to sleep alone. Really though, he's not a cuddly kind of dog. Affectionate, yes, but he's ok with being around you instead of *on* you.
Ginger... she would absolutely sleep in our bed if we let her. But she's 90 pounds and farts. We prefer her to be in her own bed.
We cuddle with them enough during the day, and they keep each other company during the night, so it works for us.

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
I am so glad I am not the only one who sleeps in bed with their dogs!!
I know trainers tell you it's a big no-no, but I can't help it. I thought I was going to get totally flamed for it!

Yup, kitty sleeps with us, but he always snuggles by DH. I go to bed earlier, but he always waits for DH to come to bed I'm jealous of their relationship

Lucy had TERRIBLE gas the other morning, too! She was farting so loudly that she was surprising herself. I swear it sounded like a duck was in the living room with us.

Re: QOTD 2/15/2010
They don't sleep in bed with us - our dogs have their own bed on the floor of our bedroom.
THAT said... every now and then, we'll wake up in the middle of the night to find one of our dogs on the bed with us. She's very light on her feet and can hop up there without us noticing if she's careful enough!

Schult had bad gas too! OMG! It would wake me out of a dead sleep!!! We actually said something to the vet and he said he probably had a soy problem. We changed his food to no soy and the gas attacks stopped, for the most part. I swear, the dog could've leveled a small village!
