Quad Screen
Just got my results back from the OB with regards to my Ultra Screen. She said everything looked great. 1 in 3000 chance of Down's and 1 in 10,000 chance of Trisomy. Anyway, she offered the option of the Quad Screen for further testing. Just wondering, did you guys get it? Is there a point in doing it if the Ultra Screen came back fine? It's just a blood test (nothing invasive) so I told her I would have it done but I was wondering what you guys thought about it. TIA!!

For me, we had wonderful ultrascreen results, but our triplescreen came out questionable...my doctor didn't suggest any additional testing because she felt it was a false positive result, but I requested the quadscreen for my own piece of mind because it had a lower level of false positives than the triplescreen...with this pregnancy, I am not sure that I will opt for the quadscreen or triplescreen

Re: Quad Screen
my ultrascreen results came back normal but i opted to do the AFP test anyway - it's just one vial of blood and i figured it couldn't hurt.

My Ultrascreen came back normal and we still had the AFP done. Figured it couldn't hurt.

The AFP is beneficial, like I've said before...with our 1st, the ultrascreen came back perfect. I didn't take the AFP at 16 weeks, then at 20 weeks found out there was a problem. It will give peace of mind.

I had every test possible that my insurance would cover.

Re: Quad Screen
Thanks!! I think I will have it done. It can't hurt and truth be told, unless there was something beyond terribly wrong with this baby (which I am sure isn't the case) I wouldn't do anything anyway in terms of ending this pregnancy. I think the test will just give piece of mind like you guys said. Thanks for the replies!!

Re: Quad Screen
The AFP is also for spina bifida which the ultrascreen does not test for. ETA: Congratulations on the good results!

Re: Quad Screen
I would go ahead and to the Quad Screen. It tests for several other things that the Ultrascreen does not.

Re: Quad Screen
I personally opted out of both. I did not want to know my chances of having any problems but that is just me personally.
