Queens Girls- where to buy meat?
We live in LIC and I hate the meat selection at our grocery stores. And the prices...ridiculous! Actually, I hate the chicken/turkey selection because that's the only meat we eat. Any good butcher or meat store?
My mom shops at D'Alessandro's meat market in Flushing, and I like it there, but looking for something closer to me.
TIA!

Have you tried Western Beef on Northern Boulevard (I think 39th St.)? Astoria should have some butchers.

I looove my butcher but I don't know if Middle Village is too far for you. The meat is trimmed for you, have tons of specialties and a deli counter.
Here's the address: Mario's Meat Market 75-55 Metropolitan Avenue Middle Village, NY 11379

Not a high class butcher but I get my meat from forest hills or Trader Joe's in Forest Hills. They are right off of woodhaven road. Not sure if want to travel this far but it would only be a few mins.
I only buy organic meat unless I need something really special like for a recipie.

Re: Queens Girls- where to buy meat?
There are a lot of butcher shops along Broadway and 30th Avenue that are good. I think the name of the butcher we used to shop at is Astoria Meats, on Broadway between 31st and 33rd streets. Now that I'm in Bayside, I'm in the same boat. D'Alessandro has gotten dirty and there have been bugs spotted in the deli section so I stopped shopping there. My Waldbaum's in Bay Terrace has a decent but small meat section, and I travel out to Huntington every once in a while to go to Forest Pork Store to get my German specialties.
