Question about a female dog and her..um nips.

I know this might be a weird question, but I figured since I didn't know the answer, I'd ask here!

A friend of mine is looking into getting a dog from a breeder. (Don't worry, its not a BYB--its a licensed AKC breeder) The dog is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Apparently the dog was sold to a family, they lost their house, and the breeder agreed to take the dog back so it wouldn't have to go to a shelter. So now the breeder is giving the dog away, as long as the owners promise to get her fixed.

When they went to look at the dog, it appears that the female's nipples were rather "droopy", now she's not 100% sure, she can't remember if the breeder told her that the dog had a litter at one point. Either way, is it normal for a female's nipples to kind of "pop out" and droop?

She definitely had a litter and they will not go back to "normal".

I don't think they will go back to normal. My girl went into one heat before we got her fixed and her nips really enlarged and changed. They did go back to normal since she never had a litter but I don't believe they will. I guess it's just like human breasts, after pg, some things may not go back to what they were.

after having puppies and nursing, yes, they pop and droop. But they go back, for the most part...my Rottie's did.

Our Staffordshire Terrior had a false pregnancy before we had her spayed and because of that her nips filled up with milk and now they droop a bit as a result.

We have a Am Staff at our rescue that came in pregnant and her nipples did not go back yet. They are slowly shrinking but i dont think they will ever be "normal" again. She has also since been spayed. Its funny cause its the first thing people say when they see her.. "Look at those nipples!"Chat Icon
