Question about a racing heart...
So last night at 4am I woke up to use the bathroom.....anyway when I was walking back to my bed my heart started racing like it never has before. It felt like it was going to just burst out of my chest. Has this ever happened to anyone?? It happened again once I got to work but it was not as intense. Should I call the dr or do you think I should just wait it out til the afternoon and see if still continues.
I have MTHFR(blood clot disorder), and although I have no idea if that has anything to do with it I am totally freaking out..

Re: Question about a racing heart...
If you are concerned talk to your doctor. I have had this since the middle of the first trimester. I was told it was from the heart working so hard to pump all the extra blood. I also have MTHFR so I was concerned but the doc said it had nothing to do my clotting disorders or my blood thinners. It is just a pregnancy thing. If it lasts longer then usual I just lay down and rest an it goes away.

Re: Question about a racing heart...
I am 28 weeks and this has happened to me on and off throughout my pregnancy. I had read it was normal, something about increased blood flow. I told my Dr who said it had something to do with a burst from the Thyroid (or something like that) She said as long as my BP was okay it wasnt anything to be concerned about.
As my Dr always says, see what we have to go through to have this baby!

Re: Question about a racing heart...
This happened to me a few weeks ago. I stupidly decided that since it was so nice out I would walk to the LIRR (1 mile). I got so overheated and the car I got on wasn't very cool. Combine that with someone sitting next to me making me feel trapped - bring on the anxiety attack. I almost had them stop the train. I broke out into a cold sweat from head to toe.
Luckilly after I drank some water and concentrated on breathing slowly my heart slowed down. Doc said I'm fine. I just have to realize I'm 26 weeks now and have to start taking it easy.
I've had such a good PG so far that sometimes I foget and do too much.
Sorry this is so long.

Re: Question about a racing heart...
This has been happening to me quite a bit lately. It helps to know it is normal, but sometimes it still scares the crap out of me

Re: Question about a racing heart...
This happened to me once and I almost passed out. Hasn't happened since. If you are concerned, call your doctor.

Re: Question about a racing heart...
I developed a pregnancy related heart rhythm issue. I landed in the ER for it then had testing. I am now taking medication for it but the doctors waited until it was certain that the medication was absolutely necessary. When you are pregnant, your heart rate increases naturally, so some amount of what you are feeling is normal.
You will know if/when you are are a point where something has to be done about it. You might want to get it checked now only because if it does get worse, the testing may take a while, and in the meantime you're suffering while they determine what is wrong (BTDT on that issue!!).
