question about a symptom

On Saturday I was at BRU with my mom. We were in the store about 40 minutes when I got really light headed, very hot, and a little queasy. I actually felt like I was going to pass out. Lucky, they have a cold cooler with beverages, so I went and grabbed an apple juice and felt MUCH better after.

I am not diabetic, and I never got a call to tell me I was anemic...

My mom said my symptoms sounded like my blood sugar was low- and it has happened to me before, when I haven't eaten in a while- but I had breakfast only like 1.5 hours before!

So is low BS a common thing? Is it a sign of something being wrong? I will bring it up at my Dr appt tomorrow, of course.

Re: question about a symptom

You have to remember that when you are pregnant, your equilibrium is off, your blood pressure is off, heck your entire body chemistry is off.

Sometimes preggos (me included when I was preggo) continue to move around and perform just like they did pre-preggo and your body sometimes cannot keep up.

I would def mention this to your OB. God forbid this happens one day when you are alone Chat Icon

Re: question about a symptom

These are both really good suggestions. I definitely drink enough water, but I will be sure to always HAVE water.
And if I am recalling correctly, both situations have occured while I was shopping. I do not want to admit that I may need to stay away from the stores. Chat Icon

But you're right- bc I have been doing things like I'm not pregnant. DH and I went out Friday night, checking all over Suffolk for a Wii- constantly getting in and out of the car, lots of walking- but not a lot for normal people. by the last store I was walking funny and my legs were KILLING me. I need to let myself be lazy.

I know exactly how difficult it is! I had a VERY hard time slowing down until my body gave me that nudge. This may your body's way of giving you that nudge! Chat Icon

Re: question about a symptom

ok, I 'm only in my first trimester, but I believe I've read that in the third trimester, the baby can actually press against major blood vessels in the third trimester and make mom feel dizzy / faint.
this is just a vague recollection, but I believe it's correct

Re: question about a symptom

I had those same exact symptoms in my first trimester. I was about 10 weeks at the time. It was during my morning commute and I had not had any breakfast.

Re: question about a symptom

YES! I had this happen to me twice! I am pretty sure it was low blood sugar for myself also. I always kept a water and granola bar within reach. I didn't get to the point of actually passing out - but CLOSE!
