Question about Banks and Checking Accounts
Are there any banks on Long Island that don't charge a maintenance fee? What about TD Bank? I want to find a new bank since ours just started charging us a fee when it used to be free.

I have a checking account with TD bank and they don't charge a fee as long as you keep a minimum of $100 in your account...

We use Signature Bank and they do not charge a fee

Capital One Bank has a free checking account with no fees.

HSBC does not charge us a fee for our checking/savings as long as we do direct deposit for our paychecks.

Credit Unions don't charge fees with checking accounts..
Nassau Financial FCU is open to members in all of Nassau County
as is
Nassau Educators FCU
Bethpage Federal FCU is open to ALL Long Islanders

I don't think they are ALL over, but there are some locations scattered around, and more in the city.
Their site is signatureny.com We have been really happy with them.

I use wachovia, which is now Wells Fargo. We are not charged monthly maintenence fees on our checking account.
