Question about being induced
I will be 40 weeks on Wednesday. I am just about 3 cm and 90% effaced (as of last Wednesday so could be further along) and the baby is very low. I have been having contractions for the last two weeks, but nothing consistent enough.
Last week my doctor asked how I felt about induction. I told her I would really rather not, but would if need be. She doen's want me to go past 41 weeks. Anyway, I scheduled an induction for Monday 4/7 when I will be 5 days past my due date.
My question is: being that I am already 3cm will they still give cervadil or will they go right to the pitocin?
I am hoping I go naturally before then. I am not keen on the whole induction thing--worried about the pain, the complications that can arise, and potentially ending up with a c-section. I know these can all happen with a naturally occurring labor, but I feel like I have heard many not so good stories about induction.
I keep praying my water breaks soon!!

Re: Question about being induced
from what you have posted (and from what i have previously read) it sounds like you are a great candidate for induction. i don't know about the cervadil/pitocin issue but i am sure your doctor will be able to answer that.
in the meantime, sending you tons of {{{{{easy labor vibes}}}}}

Re: Question about being induced
i am due the week after you and am also 3 cm. when i asked the doctor if that means i will go soon, she said no, not necessarily. she said it meant if they did for some reason induced the baby i would already be dilated sufficiently since 1-3 are the "toughest" cm. i took that to mean they would go straight to pitocin.

Re: Question about being induced
I was 3 cm dilated and I just had pitocin. I gave birth naturally. My contractions had started too- just not consistent.
Good luck!

Re: Question about being induced
Cervadil is used to soften and shorten your cervix. Since you are 90%, you will likely not need it. 4 days before my scheduled induction, my OB thought it was borderline as to whether I would need cervadil or not because I was 75%. If this was my 2nd child, she would have said I definitely did not need it. I went to L&D the night before, and the on call OB felt I was only 50% effaced so I was definitely a cervadil candidate.
