Question about bleeding - TMI

This is going to be a bit TMI, so I apologize in advance. So I had my d&c last Tuesday. I bled a bit initially right after the d&c (like I was still in the hospital). I had no cramping that day. The next night I had severe cramps, where I was in tears from the pain, but no bleeding. I went to my doctor the next day, she checked me out, said everything seemed to be fine and gave me painkillers for the cramps. No bleeding all weekend.

Today I started bleeding. The blood is a very dark brownish red color, it looks like the blood I get on the first day of a period. It has been consistent all day too, with very little to no cramping.

Is this my body miscarrying even though I had the d&c? Or is this my period? I thought my period wouldn't come till about 4-6 weeks after the d&c. Thanks for reading and any advise/explanation you can give me.

I've never had a D&C, but what it sounds like it pretty much what happens after you give birth. You bleed for a few weeks, then maybe get a break and then your period comes. Your uterus is shrinking back down to normal size and shedding all the lining it built up to sustain your pregnancy

I've had 2 m/c's but I choose to let things happen naturally, I think I may have bled for 2-3 weeks (not very heavy) after the 1st one and 3 weeks for the 2nd

When blood is dark brownish in color it's usually old blood that just hadn't come out yet. It's normal for the bleeding and cramping to vary over the next 2 weeks or so. I've had 2 unfortunatley and both times the bleeding was different...but usually gets heavier after the first few days and then mostly spotting the second week...hang in there

I'm so sorry for your loss...

When I had my D&C I bled for a little over a week, and then spotted the 2nd week. I think I stopped cramping a couple days after - Advil was very much my friend that week. Being that's its brown it's old blood, so my guess is that it's from the D&C.

After my D&C I got my period exactly 4 weeks later...
