Question about browning meat!

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year! I woke up this morning and put two pieces of beef bracciole in the crockpot for dinner tonight. However, I forgot to brown the meat before I put it in!

Does it make a difference, other than appearance? I mean, it has marinara sauce covering it now, so I can't imagine I will be able to see it...will it change the taste?

Thanks!
Lauren

Re: Question about browning meat!

I believe that it will fall apart easier when stirring or with your fork than if you had browned it first. It changes the flavor slightly too. But I imagaine it will still taste wonderful!!!!

Re: Question about browning meat!

No way!!!!!!!!! I did this with a roast meat as well and it was fine! In my opinion, I liked the softness of the meat and felt if I had browned it, it would have been chewy.

So I think it will be great!

I just bought the crockpot a few months ago - I actually had one that didn't work right, so I purchased the All Clad one from Williams Sonoma and so far, everything I have made has been great!!!

I love the fix it and forget it aspect! haha
