Question about Carseats...

We need to buy a new carseat for Emily soon so I was just looking at some Britax online.

For the height and weight requirements it says:
Rear facing 5-33lbs and 27"
Forward facing 20-40 lbs and 40" tall

This is for the roundabout.

My question is : I took Emily to the Dr. for her 6 month checkup today and she was 18-3 and 27.5" tall. So if we do the roundabout (which is most likely what we're doing) does that mean I have to put it forward facing already? I thought they were supposed to be rear facing until a year old!

She must stay rear facing up until she is 1 year old. I believe it is the law.

We have the roundabout and we turned Jake forward facing when he was a little over a year old. He was about 31 inches long at the time.

To be forward facing as far as I know they have to be 20lbs and a year old. Not one or the other.

One year is the absolute MINIMUM for how long they should be rear facing. It is actually safer to leave them rear facing for much, much longer.

Some more info on why rear facing is safest

You may need to look at the Britax Marathon or Boulevard because of how tall your baby is.

My Emily had the same problem. As time went on, her knees would be bent when I put her rear facing. But, I kept her that way until a year old. Actually it was two weeks before her first birthday. The Dr. gave me the okay.

Re: Question about Carseats...

My daughter was a big baby- off the charts on height and weight and we were told she had to be a year, even though she was big enough. (we bought the britax boulevard)
