Question about crawling...

Julia will be 8 months in a few weeks and hates to crawl - she gets frustrated on her belly quickly and she hasn't been able to master getting herself in a sitting position from lying on her belly yet.

She does love to stand and stands well and loves to walk with you if you hold her hands. Do some kids just skip the crawling phase all together?

i do try to encourage crawling by playing with her on the floor and placing toys all over the place for her to grab and crawl too - but she gets frustrated and starts crying after alittle bit.

What else can i Do? Is this normal?>

Re: Question about crawling...

my Ds was like this at about the same time your DD is.

@ 9.5 months he would only crawl under a table and now he is full force all over the placeChat Icon

I would keep trying to lure her like you are. IMO they go when they r ready

Good luck - don;t rush it! it is alot more work once they start crawling!

Re: Question about crawling...

My daughter was a late crawler, I think around 10 months! I was concerned and asked my pediatrician about it and he told me that ever since they started recommending babies be put to sleep on their backs, babies have started crawling later, and many just skip the crawling phase all together, mostly because they don't get enough practice because they're usually on their backs! Don't worry too much, crawling isn't really a milestone anymore Chat Icon

Re: Question about crawling...

Thank you ladies - i was beginning to get worried and kind of have a feeling she might just skip the crawling phase altogether.
She is really quite agitated when i put her on her belly - so i will just let nature take its course

Thanks again
