question about day care daily sheet
today was DS's 3rd day at day care. on his daily sheet there is a section where the teachers can check off: happy, tired, active, quiet or "other"
Luca was hysterical when i dropped him off this morning - the other two days he was mostly okay, he cried on and off throughout the day, but on his sheet it said "happy" and "active" and once it said "cried on an off all day"
today the "other" was just checked off, with no explanation. the teacher was not there when i picked DS up and she is not there when i get there in the morning so i will have to call in the middle of the day to find out what she meant by this.
i do NOT want to overreact but they obviously know he is new to day care. a simple comment like the first day ("cried on and off") would have been fine with me.
should i just assume that "other" meant he was fussy and crying the whole time?
i'm kind of upset, especially since he was crying when i left, and crying when i got there, but no one called me during the day so i have to assume he wasn't crying ALL day.
any thoughts?

Re: question about day care daily sheet
The first thing that comes to my mind is that she forgot to write a comment with it. She might have been in the middle of filling out the sheet and got interrupted or something. Just a thought. I would probably call and say something like...I was wondering if someone forgot to write a comment because there was nothing next to other.

Re: question about day care daily sheet
First off
I don't like the use of the word other on a daily sheet. That could mean anything. I would hope if he was crying all day they would let you know by writing that down or contacting you directly.
I will tell you that crying on and off all day is completely normal for a child his age. It usually will take up to two weeks to adjust to a new day care. Try to hang in there till he adjusts

Re: question about day care daily sheet
If he was just complete upset all day long they would have called I always find drop off and pick up times to be a little stressful for the kids unless they are distracted...but once one parent comes in they all expect their own.
I never understood the 'other' category but I always assumed it meant Lucas was a terror and that was their nice way of saying so.

thanks... i am sure it's harder for me than him!
i do not want to overreact at all, or being a super-demanding mom, i just really don't like the idea of an "other" without a quick comment.

I've had this happen to me, so I tend to agree with this.
