Question about Dr. Cavanagh and blood work question
After DS's last well visit I've decided to switch peds. I should've done it after his 1 year well but didn't. Anyway, I've decided on Dr. Cavanagh. DS still needs to get his 1 year blood work done. Does someone at Dr. Cavanagh's office do it or do I have to take DS to a lab?
If I have to take him to a lab does anyone have any recommendations for someone who can get blood easily and VERY quickly from a baby?
TIA!

Re: Question about Dr. Cavanagh and blood work question
WE go to Dr. Cavanagh. I just took DD for her 1 year well visit. They do not do the blood work there. You have to go to a lab. I have yet to do this! I would love a suggestion as well. I was going to call oxford but I always like the advise from everyone on here.

Thanks for the info! I have a list of labs from my insurance also but I'd like a recommendation from someone with firsthand experience!

Re: Question about Dr. Cavanagh and blood work question
Hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I do not use Dr. Cavanaugh, but, with our ped (also in huntington) we have to use a lab too. I use Lab Corp in Commack. I go online, make the appt. ahead of time and tell them I am coming in with a baby. They are ALL very nice there. There is 1 tech Lizette whom I ask for (if she's avail).

Thank you so much! I'll check to make sure they take my insurance.

Re: Question about Dr. Cavanagh and blood work question
I've had blood taken downstairs at Quest (suggest you make an appointment via Quest's website, if you do opt for it).
They are used to taking blood from infants but you do have to hold them down & that's not fun.

Think it depends on your insurance, but if Quest is a listed provider on your plan, we used the one downstairs. I held dd on my lap. It was sad, but they were fine.
