Question about Dr's and their slowness....

at trying to help us get pg.

Im venting so please bare with me..I apologize..

I just feel like this is not my month. The moodiness and breast soreness is exactly similiar to my pms, and Im not at all hopeful and thats ok...

BUT...the TCOYF book says if your timing perfectly and still do not get PG after 4-6 cycles, agressive testing should take place. So We have tried for I think 5 cycyles...I told the Dr it was 5-6 cycles last month, so I lied a little...AND YET...she told me to come back in 3 months if my progesterone was ok ( which based on temps, looks like it is)

She knows my history of cervical issues.

The book says that biopsys and cyrotherapy can affect CM...I havent seen YET any EWCM or high quality CM..

I had cyro, and about 4 biopsys and laser treatment and a leep and a cone biopsy to remove cancer cells..and the dr knows this. ( she did say IUI would be an option if my cervical probelms were causing infertility, and she KNOWS Im charting, using opk's, timing BD etc)

WHY wait 3 more months??

Should I call her and ask her when I get AF this month to be more agressive? Find another DR?

Also- I did have two PG's before and I got Pg EASILY...I mean easily as in BD one time..poof PG... This was BEFORE all the cervical treatments/surgeries...so I mean it seems OBVIOUS to me what my issue is?

Thanks for listening, guess Im just frustrated..

I would definitely call and have her give you a referral to a specialist. You are going to still have to wait for a specialist! I know, when I called they gave me an appointment 7 weeks later!
And the RE told me that having a conal creates scar tissue (yes, I had one) and that might be part of my problem.
Good luck!!!

Re: Question about Dr's and their slowness....

You can not tell what your progesterone level is based on temperatures !!!!!!!!

My temperatures are always around 98.6 post ovulation.....while pre ovulation they are 97.7. That's a huge rise, and my progesterone is low! Temps don't reveal how much progesterone you are secreting.....in fact, when I take the suppositories,....my temps even lower a bit.

Oh and btw, your progesterone needs to be checked every single cycle......it changes!!!!! Our bodies change....

Please go to an RE!

I would definitely call her and explain how you feel. If you feel that you want to proceed more aggressively with fertility issues, you should make that very clear and ask her for the specific tests that you want done. It is your body and you know what is going on with it better then anyone else. I think sometimes doctors get desensitized about trying to conceive and they forget that not every woman is the same.

So what? You have every right to be concerned and question and if she is a good doctor with bedside manner, she won't take offense to it at all and talk to you and explain everything until you feel comfortable! I used to go to this one doctor and I was asking all these questions because I had an abnormal pap and had to have further tests done. He told me that I should stop looking things up online because it's only confusing me! That was the last time I saw him and now my dr takes the time to explain EVERYTHING to me so I understand. That is part of what being a good doctor is!

Donna like I said, you need to find another doctor - one you feel 100% comfortable with. Your doctor works FOR YOU not the other way around. She doesnt seem to be agressive enough with you - it makes me mad!!

With your history, IMO, she should be running more tests and more concerned than she is.

I think it's time for you to see an RE. In my experience, they take you much more seriously. When I told my gyn that we were trying and having difficulty, he told me to wait another 6 months before testing, (hello, I'm pushing 40!). I took it upon myself to see an RE, who went over our options and started testing immediately.

Re: Question about Dr's and their slowness....

I agree with what everyone else said here, Donna (and you gave me the same advice yesterday, that I need to PUSH my doctor more to test me, etc, so you need to do the same!) Not to mention with the previous gynelogical issues you had in the past, I do think you are onto something and they should acknowledge this and be more aggressive with your efforts to TTC!

I swear that after this last experience with my ob/gyn, who I truly do adore, I am pretty sure that I am just going to go directly back to my RE from hereon out (I was seeing an RE for my endometrioisis and think I am just going to pursue this now rather than my GYNO)

Its so frustrating, as we all have experienced in one way or another Chat Icon

Re: Question about Dr's and their slowness....

I would look for another doctor who has the same perspective as you... my only saving grace for when I went through my miscarriage was having an absolutely AMAZING doctor who was on top of my condition and symptoms every step of the way. If it wasn't for his aggressive nature, I probably would have ended up losing this pregnancy as well... there are other doctors in his practice who aren't quite as aggressive and take a more lax approach, so that's why I specifically chose HIM and have stuck with him for several years now.

I think getting a p4 EVERY single is a bit excessive. So does my RE so everyone please keep in mind that different DR's approach IF in different ways. If it makes you feel more secure to get it tested EVERY month, than by all means please do so.
And although you can't tell your progesterone levels based on temperatures you can use your temps as an indication that your body is producing some amount of Progesterone, if it weren't, then you would not have your post o tempertaure rise.

Last but not least, go to a dr. you feel comfortable with now. I have been trying for two years and although I could have gone to an RE a year ago, I did not feel ready.
I especially was not emotionally ready to accept that I was suuffering from IF.
An RE CAN help more than an OBGYN but if your OBGYN is good you can continue to go to them for some preliminary testing.

I love you all and I wish the best for all of us. Take this ride your own way and make your own path to happiness.
