Question about feeding DC veggies/fruits

DS is 5 mons old and he has been on cereal since 4 mons and just started fruits/veggie this month.

Question- do you give DC cereal at both AM and PM feedings? Right now i give DS 2 Tblsp of cereal w/ 2 oz fruit in AM and then 2 Tblsp of cereal w/ 2 oz veggie in PM. But today i introduced avocado so i mashed 1/2 a small avocado and he had that wa/ sweet potato and cereal. It seemed like A LOT of food so i didnt have im finish it all.

How do i know when its too much?

THANKS

Re: Question about feeding DC veggies/fruits

I take cues from DS to know when to stop. Usually he keeps opening his mouth very enthusiastically after each bite, when he slows (will still eat but doesn't seem as eager) I stop feeding him.

I do Oatmeal with a fruit for breakfast, avocado for lunch and oatmeal with a veggie for dinner. When I first introduced fruit and veggies, I was doing fruit in the morning and veggie in the evening, both with oatmeal. If you felt like giving him an avocado as well as a sweet potato was too much than next time omit one of them or don't have him finish it.

Re: Question about feeding DC veggies/fruits

DS is your son's age. We give him 2 tbsp of cereal mixed with a 1/2 jar/tub of fruit in the morning and 1 jar/tub of veggie at night. He seems to want more most of the time, so I think he'll be happy when I move him up to Stage 2 because the containers are bigger.

Everything I have read says as long as they still drink a min of 24 oz a day, that you should give as much solid as they like. It's not really a lot of calories and it's just for fun at this point.

Re: Question about feeding DC veggies/fruits

I would only do the avocado tomorrow for lunch. I wouldn't mix it w/ the sweet potatoes & rice. Might be a little too much.

Re: Question about feeding DC veggies/fruits

For the most part, I give DS cereal with both breakfast & dinner. There are nights where he just doesn't seem to want it & I just do the veggie or I give him yogurt

Re: Question about feeding DC veggies/fruits

I am only at this a week or so, but I was unsure when to stop, too. Now, I notice that he just closes his mouth, and he's had enough....like every spoonful, he leans in with his mouth wide open, then after a while, he just turns his cheek.

Other than that, I would have no idea when to stop...lol
