Question about flying with a 9 month old

Does anyone know what the process is for bringing formula through security at JFK.

We use powdered formula

I **think** you have to buy water on the other side of the security check to make the bottles, but I would call the airline to make sure.

I just flew with Ava last month(she is 9 months old). I brought her a bottle and put it in the bin and they didn't even question me. ( I flew out of JFK).

On the way home (flew out of ft lauderdale) they pulled us aside and opened the bottle and held a strip ABOVE it to test it.
All was fine. It really was no biggie.

ETA. We also use powder formula. We brought a water bottle and they tested that too (only on the way home). The powder they paid no mind too.

When we flew with Kaydyn. They didn't question any premade bottles we had. They would not let us bring any plain bottles of water through security. They told us we would have to buy water on the other side.

My friends are coming to visit us next weekend with their 9 month old and we just looked this up.
