question about Graco carseat

OK, so Dh and I just put the car seat bases in our cars and I just don't feel like it's safe. Am I retarded or is all I have to do put the car's seat belt through the base and that's it?! I feel like it's so flimsy and the part that's not attached can lift up. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Am I supposed to take it to get checked somewhere?

Do you have the LATCH anchors in your car? If so, you should attach the seat to them in addition to the seat belt for extra security. Also, I think it is normal for it to move slightly from side to side.

Re: question about Graco carseat

I felt the same way, for some reason when we put it in at first it felt stable, but then a few weeks ago it looked like it was moving all over the place. We had taken it to a place that showed you how to put it in correctly and that's all he showed us. Later we noticed that we did have LATCH in our cars which we use now and it seems so much more stable.

Re: question about Graco carseat

I know that when you have a car seat (convertible) you are NOT supposed to use both the belt and LATCH. I dont know about the infant seat though.

I also thought this...I think it is one or the other. We are planning on using the LATCH

Use the LATCH if you have it. Get it checked by a pro. It shouldn't move more than an inch to either side (I think that's the measurement). You have to kneel on it and put all your body weight into it to tighten the belts. Do not use both the LATCH and the seat belt. If you check the manual, it says not to.
