Question about H1N1...not sure where to post
My DH's cousin told me last week that she had the swine flu. She had fever for 2 days and a bad cough, she went to the dr and they did a swab test. DH's grandparents are in from OOS and stayed with the cousin for about 8-9 days before she got sick last week until this weekend. They were supposed to come stay with us and i told DH to tell them to come in 2 weeks. Now his whole family is saying she didnt have it and that the test didnt come back yet, it takes 5 days to get the results. My questions is how long does a swab test take to come back? I though it was a rapid test and they are all telling me no. I talked to DH's cousin 3 days ago and she said she doesnt think she has the flu and that the dr told her she "probably" has it...? I feel like they are changing the story around and lying about it. Thanks for reading.

I am surprised they even tested her, because most places if you come in with flu like symptoms they just document it as swine flu.
I don't know your family, but I doubt they would knowingly put you at risk.
H1N1 has a 3-5 day incubation period, so if are concerned then ask them to stay away for a week, or call your doctor and see what they suggest you do.

Thanks so much for your reply. The only thing that got me upset was the fact that the story changed 3 times already. If she has it thats fine. I would just feel better if they came to visit next week instead of right now.

I would do the same as you and ask them to come next week, even if it is not H1N1 I would not want to get sick with anything while pregnant.
