Question about HCG shots?

So long story short - my DH is on clomid to help his sperm count and testosterone -- not working so great so dr said next step is to try hcg injections.

I first need to call the insurance to find out of its covered but what do i ask? Is there a brand name or how is the hcg officially listed on a formulary?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Question about HCG shots?

I would actually get a full printed out list of everything related to infertility that is covered - this way you know for the future!

One brand name is Ovidrel which is often used with timed BD and/or IUI.

Novarel is another one.. but that is intrmuscular whereas Ovidrel is subQ

HCG common drug names on the bottom of the link

This might help you. Go to the link and it lists the common names. I'm not sure if there are others but the ones listed on this website are Brand Names: Novarel, Ovidrel, Pregnyl
Also, I"m not sure if HCG is different for men and women. I think the best idea is to talk to a pharmacist or even your dr.
