Question about Jewish Baby Naming Ceremony
Hi, I have a baby naming ceremony question and was wondering if someone could help me with 2 questions.
1. Do you give gifts for this? I sent a gift when the baby was born, do I give another? If so, is it usually money, or just a regular gift.
2. If it's in a temple(they are not too conservative) can I wear a dress that has straps, but shows my shoulders?
Thanks for any help!

Re: Question about Jewish Baby Naming Ceremony
you should give a bond or a check. As for your shoulders, they are supposed to be covered in a temple. bring a shawl.

Re: Question about Jewish Baby Naming Ceremony
We told people no gifts, and most respected our wishes. You can give money or a gift off the registry since many jewish women do not have baby showers. You should have your shoulders covered in the temple.

Re: Question about Jewish Baby Naming Ceremony
We had a baby naming for our daughter and everyone either brought a gift (clothes, toys, etc) or a check. Some of those people also gave gifts when she was born. I did not, however, have a shower.
Shoulders should be covered. I'd throw a cardigan over your shoulders and see when you get there what people are wearing...you can always throw it on if over the shoulders isn't enough. AC will probably be blasting anyway.
