Question about Luggage (I Know, Tres Exciting)!
DH and I bought a luggage set this morning for our vacation next week. We can't spend a lot of money right now and got an extremely good deal for what we spent. Only thing is, the set didn't come with a garment bag, which we definitely need - last vacation, we borrowed one from a friend. I'm online looking at sites and different garment bags and as expected, they run the gamut from cheaper to really expensive, from more basic models to super deluxe ones.
As I said, can't spend a lot now - there are two "basic" ones I keep looking at - don't seem that basic to me - have everything I wouldn't basically want - just not really deluxe. Really great prices and free shipping. Got good reviews also. Would you go for one of these for the time being and can always upgrade later? Or should I su ck it up and get a more deluxe one now?
Thanks for your opinions!

I would say go for the cheaper one now, but DH would say **** it up and buy it right the first time. Lately I'm liking his way better because it makes more sense financially to buy it well made once. You're going to buy it at some point, right?
ETA: or borrow again from your friend and buy the good one down the line.

I bought a cheep kennith cole one the first time and it fell apart after 2 uses. We registered for a luggage set when we got married and received a the samsonite one. It has held up much better than the cheeper one, although it has only been on one trip.

Marshall's has great deals on luggage. Maybe you could get a Samsonite for a good deal.

I would buy the better one. You will not have to replace it so fast. Is the better one that much more than the cheaper one? Can you put it on a cc for now?
Get one that is on wheels that has a pull. Much easier to manage.

I would go to Kohls and see what they got. But to answer your question I would go with the deluxe model and **** it up.

I would spend the money on the better one. If you travel a lot and will use it more than 3 times this year I would do it for that reason too. I found cheap luggage to be a hassle and in the end you waste money. have a good vacation.

Re: Question about Luggage (I Know, Tres Exciting)!
Have you tried Costco? Their Kirkland luggage is pretty good.
My DH has a lot of Tumi pieces and they started to break on him, so he picked up a couple "cheap" Kirkland pieces to replace the broken pieces. He says they're great and was really impressed with their quality! (And he beats the crap out of them b/c he travels weekly w/heavy samples.)
This is $160 @ Costco:
He buys the ballistic nylon pieces, so if you're not looking for that type of luggage, then just disregard my post.

Can you borrow someone's again so you can get the better one down the road?

Re: Question about Luggage (I Know, Tres Exciting)!
I would definitely check out Marshalls, Costco, Kohls . . . .. See what they have. Is it a HUGE price difference between the one you want and the one you will settle for. I do things like this all of the time, but in all honesty, if you are going to get the one you really want eventually, then you might as well **** it up and buy it now, or else ultimately you are spending more money . . . .
