Question about Massapequa....

I've been looking at houses in Massapequa and I'm confused....there is the Biltmore Shores section and the Nassau Shores section.....and then the Massapequa shores section or is that the same as Nassau shores? Is one section more desirable than another?

Re: Question about Massapequa....

Anything with Massapequa and the word "Shores" is a great area.

There is definitely a BIltmore and a Nassau.
There is also Bar Harbor.
I think there's a Massapequa Shores too.

Re: Question about Massapequa....

Isnt there also a green something? I know it's over by Nassau Shores. My daughter has a friend that lives there by the golf course.

Re: Question about Massapequa....

All expensive and nice areas.... I think Harbor Green/Old Harbor Green is the most pricey - at least it was back in the day when I grew up there.

There is the 9 hole golf course called Peninsula in Nassau Shores - I used to drink there as a teenager haha :) It is somewhat near The Riviera catering hall. Also a nice area....esp along the East Shore/West Shore Drives on the canals and water.

Biltmore Shores is the most desirable of those you named. I'm pretty sure Massapequa Shores and Nassau Shores is the same thing, but I could be wrong. Bar Harbour is another one.

Basically almost anything South of Merrick Rd has a "shores" name and is very desirable.

Re: Question about Massapequa....

I live in Massapequa Shores... there is Nassau Shores, Bar Harbor, Biltmore Shores & Massapequa Shores... and that's how it goes from East to West down Merrick Road... furthest East is Nassau Shores, then so on as I listed. All of those areas are desirable... like someone else said, "south of merrick road" is more $$$$, but also more desirable. I can tell you its an awesome place to live... we love it. Very safe, and very clean. If you have any questions, feel free to ask...
oh also, depending on where you look, your house may also come w/ beach rights... there are quite a few small little private beaches that have deeded rights to them.

Re: Question about Massapequa....

honestly, it's hard to say - it really depends on each person you ask.

I think Harbor Green is the NICEST by far - JMO. Overall, gorgeous homes with lots of character - you probably can't even get in there for less than $900k, if that though.

I don't like the rule that anything South of Merrick is nice, because I found a few of those sections to be not so great. Some homes are very contemporary - not my style, and some are very mixed - some are huge and some are SO small...not kept up nicely either Chat Icon

After Harbor Green, I think Nassau Shores is also very nice. Best thing to do is grab a map and go driving - that's what DH and I did for many weekends just getting a feel for the area.

HTHs!

Re: Question about Massapequa....

I could definitely see myself living in that area. It is beautiful !!! I'll never forget going to a party at a house in one of the "shores" can't remember which, I just know you take Division avenue all the way down to the very last street.

The house was on the water, incredible on the inside - floor to ceiling glass looking out on the water. I think the paid $300,000 in 1993 and they sold it for $680,000 around 2001.

I agree my friend's parents live down there & just recently put their house up for sale I know it is in the low $800s but there are beautiful homes down there especially the ones on the open bay. Wish I had $2 million though to live there.

Re: Question about Massapequa....

I live in the park north of sunrise(not N. Massapequa though)and I love it. Very quite, neighbors are great, reasonably priced SD23. House's are very charming and not over done. My daughter has a friend in Nassau Shores and that too is beautiful and they aren't really over priced in my opinion, more hit and miss but beautiful area if your looking to live near the water.
