question about permenant sub position
The description says you report to the asme school everyday, does this mean you are gaurenteed work and a steady paycheck as well?

Yeah a permanent sub is usually a leave replacement. Just find out how long the leave is for. I had a one year leave replacement last year and it wound up turning into another full time year this year.

In my school, a perm. sub works everyday in the same school, but get their class assignment when they come in in the morning. Basically, they are guaranteed daily work and a steady paycheck in the same school.

This is what Rich is doing right now.
It's a salaried position -you report to the same school, same time every day, and they'll have work for you. You may or may not have a class...one day last week, they just had him roaming the halls for 3 hours.
90+% of the time it doesn't include medical coverage. The only district in Suffolk that does is Sayville, as far as Nassau goes, I only know of Elmont.

I used to do this and yes, you report to the same school and receive your assignment in the morning. However, if you didn't report to work (illness or the like), you didn't get paid for the day.

Same at my school...
Mine too but it is not salaried, it's per diem and there are no benefits.

This was my first teaching job. Like they said, you work everyday, no benefits and you get your assignment the morning of unless someone requests you. Also in the district I did it in, you may be pulled to go to other schools in the district if they are in need of extra subs.
