Question about PPD for Moms of 2 or more
Hi Ladies!
Just wondering- is there anyone out there who felt they had PPD with their first and then had a second baby?
did it return with baby #2?
did you do anything to try and prevent it?
you can FM me if you prefer.
We are expecting #2 in April- DS will be 16 months old- its something I am worrying about.....

I am curious about this too. I sufferred (still am 7 months later) pretty bad with my one and only. I have sworn off baby#2 b/c of this fact alone. So, I totally understand!

Thank you Katie!
I've been trying to do some research about PPD reoccuring- just interested to see if anyone here has any personal experience with this.

Re: Question about PPD for Moms of 2 or more
My gf had it with #1, but didn't have it with baby #2.. she thinks that the reason why was because she was just too preoccupied with both to even think about it. not sure if that helps, but

Re: Question about PPD for Moms of 2 or more
I have the same concerns. My mom had it with both of me and my brother. I'm soooo scared that it's going to happen again. My only sanity is that I KNOW it's temporary no matter how awful it seems at the time.
Prayers we both avoid it with #2

I had it with #1 and #2(I have 2 under 2 too, mine are 14 months apart), but with #1 it was MUCH MUCH worse.
With both girls, the "fog lifted" at about 3 months PP.
I hope you avoid it

Thank you- that is so interesting (and relieving) to hear it was milder with your second!
Ugh- I just read on line that recurrence rates for moms who had it with #1 are between 15-50%. Yuck.
I am hoping that if I have it again it will be milder because i know better what to expect and I know that it is temporary.

Re: Question about PPD for Moms of 2 or more
Well, I haven't had #2 yet, but I suffered severely from PPD with my first. Here's a great website where you can get wonderful support and maybe some easing of your fears. http://p071.ezboard.com/fpostpartumdepressionfrm1
The only thing I can go on is that my mother had severe PPD with my sister, who was born first, and not a single ounce of it with me.

Thank you Rachel- mine was pretty severe as well. I will check out that website. It is encouraging to hear that about your mom!
