Question about Protein "S"
Hi girls,
I'm hoping somene has info on this...I've had 2 m/c's now since I started TTC last September. The doc is sending me for all these tests and this week my Protein "S" and antigen activity came back VERY low. She is testing me againa and then sending me to a hematologist. Any ideas what this means??? I didn't ask her on the phone because I was almost in shock when she said the word "hematologist." I just hope this is something really serious.
Thanks!!!
Oh and baby dust to all

Re: Question about Protein "S"
Basically low Protein S means that your blood can be clotting when it's not supposed to. (that's putting it simply)
Seeing a hematologist is a great idea. If you need the name of one who specializes in miscarriage, I know of one.
I also have some anti-coagulant issues. The good news is, it can be treated :)

Re: Question about Protein "S"
APS is a clotting syndrome. My aunt had it. It is called Antiphosphal Lipid Syndrome (spelling, sorry!). My aunt had so many miscarriage before finding this problem. She had one child before all of the miscarriages, and after finding out the problem, she now has three more beautiful children. All she had to do was give herself heprin shots in her belly I believe twice a day. A simple blood test will determine if you have this. Best of luck to you!

Re: Question about Protein "S"
I spoke to my Dr. and he wants me to see a perinatologist (sp?) and hematologist to decide what needs to be done when I do get pregnant. I'm not going til next week---I was a little bit freaked out at first but have tried to relax and wait to see what the doctors say.
