Question about Puppy's sleeping through night?
I just got a 10month old puppy. As of now, we wake up after 4 hours, and let her pee. Then we usually sleep for another 8 hours. Do you think we can go longer then 4 hours? She didn't have an accident last night, but went and peed as soon as we let her out of her crate. We are exhausted!!

My puppy is 11 months old but we've had him since he was 8 weeks. Was your dog crated prior to getting him? IME he should be sleeping through the night.

Re: Question about Puppy's sleeping through night?
She meant 10 weeks old.
I think she can make it Alli. I would try to let her sleep through the night. I would not keep her crated for 12 straight hours, but she should be able to make it until early morning. Oreo usually can make it no longer than 9am if put to bed at 11pm. I think you will have a harder time getting her to sleep through the night in the long run if she gets into the schedule of a potty break in the middle of the night. She needs to learn to hold it.

Ohhhh, OK. That makes A LOT more sense. We were totally exhaused when we got our puppy. He was able to hold it longer and longer each night.

If your crating her, you should be able to keep her in there for more than 4 hours. At 10wks, Riley stayed in here crate till about 5am, then we let her out to pee. Def try to keep her in there as long as you can, she will learn to hold it; but obviously if you here her whining then I would let her out.

Re: Question about Puppy's sleeping through night?
Thanks!! Sorry I mean she is 10 weeks old. We are going to try to make it through the night. Problem is that my DH can't make it, and when he uses the BR he wakes her up. SHe is not whining at all until she hears us up. I live in an apartment so I don't know where else to put her so she wont wake up.

Re: Question about Puppy's sleeping through night?
We got our puppy at 9 weeks old and she always has slept through the night. We make sure that before we go to bed, we take her out one last time and in the AM before I get ready for work, first thing I do is let her out. We stuck to the same routine even on the weekends until she was a little older and then we started to sleep later on the weekends.
She was fine, never had an accident in her crate either.
If you make a noise in the middle of the night and see she gets up, believe me once you walk away that little head just goes right back to sleep.

The same thing is happening to us if we get up in the middle of the night (so I try not to out of fear that he is going to wake up and cry!!).
Our puppy is 11 weeks old. He has been holding it from about 10:30/11:00 at night until 7am when the alarm rings and he hears it and then I take him out first thing, then give him breakfast and out again around 7:45 and then out again around 8:45 when we finally leave for work.

Well our little Penny slept 7 hours last night and didn't have an accident. I made sure she went potty before bed and then put her in the crate. It worked great!!!
