Question about Rice cereal and reflux....
Do you give it to your DC just to help keep food down or does it HELP the reflux? I am wondering what the actual use is......

Re: Question about Rice cereal and reflux....
I have found that DS does spit up less. But he may just be getting older...He helps a TON with the reflux. Basically you couldnt lay him flat on his back before we started putting the rice cereal in his bottles at about 6 weeks.

I've heard no rice in the bottle also for choking reasons.

My doc said to avoid rice for 6 months since it negatively affects their digestive system and never give it in a bottle

This was the reason I was told not to do it, as well. As far as reflux goes, if he's that uncomfortable, then they should be putting him on something for it. Is he on Zantac or anything like that? That helped Ava a lot. Also, are you holding him upright for 20 minutes after feedings? That's one of the rules of thumb for reflux babies.
