Question About Savings Bonds...
This is probably a stupid question and I should know the answer to this ....
But I'm not sure how savings bonds work -- I mean I know that after X amount of years they accumulate thier full value...
But what do you do with them? Hold on to them? You can't deposit them into a savings account, can you?

You can register them, so if they get lost. We registered DH's and Gianna's and they are in our safe too.

Re: Question About Savings Bonds...
Does anyone know how long it takes for the real savings bond to come? We got certificates saying they were purchased and the bond will be on it's way. I'd like to register them because I am notorious for losing things!

Re: Question About Savings Bonds...
It took about 2-3 weeks after the bond was purchased for us to get the real ones in the mail after her christening

If you hold onto them after maturity, you'll get interest, but it's not a whole lot. You can cash them in when they mature (or earlier if you want) and then deposit into a savings account if you want.

Re: Question About Savings Bonds...
We're storing DD's in our fire proof box, but DH also said he's going to scan them so we have a copy if they ever do get lost or damaged. Seemed like a good idea.

Re: Question About Savings Bonds...
I used mine to pay for some of our wedding
After they mature you earn interest, but only until they are 30 years old - after that - nothing
