Question about taking a break...UPDATE - Decision made
Has anyone taken a break from treatment for a little while? Like just a month or two?
I know in the long run that time is not really going to make a difference...and I have a really crazy January with work and personal stuff. I'm debating taking the rest of this month and January off and just starting up again with injections in February. I talked to DH briefly just now and he says whatever I want to do is fine.
But I feel oddly guilty for some reason...like its selfish to want to stop for a little bit and get my head together, lose this last 10 pounds, enjoy the holidays without the stress of injections, doctor visits, etc. And I have a big work event on 1/31 that will be impossible to do an injection at. I know I could have a whole cycle done by that point though...just confused. Thanks sorry so long!
Update Saturday am - Went for a sono this morning and my ovaries are enlarged - 6 cm each. The doctor I saw was a little concerned and told me not to exercise and take it easy. So I'm forced to take a break anyway. I guess the decision was made for me, which definitely makes it easier. Thanks again everyone! I'll start back up around the end of January.
My doctor (through email) also said that I should be able to start whenever I want after I give my ovaries a break for 3-4 weeks - most likely I won't have to take Provera as long as my lining is not too thick.

Re: Question about taking a break...
You are in my head!
We are taking a break after this cycle is over. My doctor requires that I take month off anyway before starting IVF. We decided we really need to de-stress and are going to take a vacation, but can't due to work until February. We are going to start our first IVF cycle the middle of February. I have very mixed emotions about it, but I think in the long run, it's better for me emotionally.

Re: Question about taking a break...
Hi
I have taken a break. I am going to be starting my 4th IVF. After the first one I jumped right back in, then after the last failed one I took a break and swiched RE. I am on a break as we speak, I had a surgery in between as well. I find it easier for myself during this time of year not to be running back and forth to appts not to mention all the other stress about the IVF. I say do whatever your comfortable with but sometimes taking a break helps to get your head together.

Re: Question about taking a break...
We took one month off between treatment.. and at first it felt great.. I was so happy for the break.. but than when AF came I felt like I wasted time.
It is a lose lose situation for me.

Re: Question about taking a break...
we may be taking a break next month as well if we don't get a bfp this month. we'll be in between insurances and won't have much of a choice- but i think it's a positive thing. i say def. take a break- it can't hurt and in the long run it won't make a huge diff.

Re: Question about taking a break...
I wouldn't feel guilty about taking a break. You mentally have to be healthy for this whole process also and if a 1 month break will do your mental sanity some good then I would take a break. It doesn't mean you have to take a break from TTC, you just are not going to go the medicated route for 1 month. This whole process can me very draining, you might be doing your body some good. Do what you think is best for you and don't feel guilty about your decision.

Re: Question about taking a break...
I took about six months off and it was one of the best things I did...You need to take a break sometimes.

Re: Question about taking a break...
Thanks everyone for the advice. I just emailed my doctor to see what the protocol would be for me starting mid-cycle in about 3-4 weeks. Since my levels are always the same without meds even 2+ weeks into a cycle (when I was delayed 2 cycles due to cysts I was able to start later without having to sit out a whole cycle), I would think that conceivably I could start at any time without needing Provera, but we'll see what he says. Thanks again

That sounds like a good plan, Carolyn. I am sure it will be nice not to have to worry about any of this stuff for a few weeks.
