Question about travelling with formula

If you formula feed your child, and are going out for the day- how do you handle feeding them? Do you use the powder formula or the RTF formula? DD currently takes 4oz of formula- so I could feed her 2 2oz RTF bottles, or half of an 8oz RTF bottle. Considering I wont have anywhere to store the 8oz RTF bottle once its open, half will go to waste.

So I'm wondering if its almost easier to feed her the powdered formula. I could fill up bottles with water before we leave the house- and then put the powder into when she's ready to eat, right? The water in the bottles doesnt have to be refridgerated, right?

Help!

Re: Question about travelling with formula

Powder is the way to go! Just do it exactly how you said and the water can be room temp. It mixes better that way too!

Re: Question about travelling with formula

I make the bottles before I leave and put it in a cooler bag with ice paks. They are fine that way.

I use powder. I fill the bottles up with water before and bring along those formula holders - with the dividers in it. I fill it up with formula for the day.

My DD doesn't tolerate powder well, so we have only used RTF.

I bought an insulated bag and an ice pack that holds 3 8 oz bottles, and bring what I need. DD is pretty much on a schedule so I take it out of the bag 30 minutes before I think she's going to want it. I usually try to ask for a cup of hot water or run it under some warm water to take the chill off. She's never complainedChat Icon

We fill up her bottles with water, and put the formula w/ a scooper in a plastic container. We always make sure we have more than enough instead of walking around with the entire can. If you decide to use Enfamil, they have single packets that make 4 ounces..pretty cool! No need to refrigerate unless it's EXTREMELY hot outside..

Re: Question about travelling with formula

I pour the water into the bottles and I use a dispenser that holds the powder.

Works well.

Re: Question about travelling with formula

As for the formula dispenser, the only one I've found that doesn't leak the powder into the other compartments is the walmart one. I would stay away from the Munchkin and Sassy ones, they are horrible.
