my son has been found 2x face down in the bassinet. He is able to turn himself over at 3 1/2 months. I dk if he can turn himself back. I was told a sleep positioner is a hazard once they move around alot or can turn. How the heck am I soppose to keep him on his back? now I am up freaking about SIDS and everything else. Any ideas? what did u do?

ok..here's what we were told by the nicu staff:
put him on his back to sleep. do this for as long as you can. if you must, put him on his side. once he starts rolling though, you have no control and don't worry if you find him on his belly, just keep the crib clear.
how's that? to add, i found DS next to the railing this morning sucking on the slats! way to spend your 5week "birthday"!

Re: question about turning over! HELP NEEDED PLEASE
all you can do if you are worried is keep flipping him back... until he can roll himself from belly to back there is no other way without using a positioner which I don't think is safe at his age. Chances are if he's rolling over by himself and has good neck control, then he is probably comfy on his belly and will be ok...soon enough he will be rolling both ways...

I used a sleep positioner and it kept her from rolling and kept me from worrying.

I agree.
Both of my kids were belly sleepers. Make sure the mattress is firm, sheets are tight, no toys/stuffed animals in the crib.
You'll probably find that he sleeps for much longer.

I agree - however the face down thing would probably bother me. If you see him that way I would just turn his head - but leave him on his belly - cuz he'll just roll over on it anyway.
