Question about wanting more children
DH and I have always planned on having 2-3 children. Our son will be a year next month, and I am happy with our little family. DH said we don't have to try for another but I know he would really like another child. Is it selfish to only want one more child? I feel bad that our son will not have anyone to play with, but I think about all the attention I will always be able to give just him.
Has anyone else planed on having a big family and changed their miind?

Agree all around here. But I'm not trying for #2 just yet.

Re: Question about wanting more children
Actually before I became pregnant with this baby I had a conversation with DS that I was good with just the one child (we talked about 4- ahhh). DH really wants a llitter but I was feeling blessed with just my son.
Little did I know that I was already pregnant when we had this and many conversations. I'm still apprehensive )at 35 weeks) but I know it will be great. Maybe in a couple of years when DC is a little older you will feel differently. You don't have to make any decisions now. When your child is older maybe you'll get the baby itch again.
It's not selfish. I'm ultimately happy that DS will have a brother because I was an only child. At this stage I feel very lonely because my parents aren't here and I have no siblings. But, on the flip side, I could have a sibling that I don't get along with and that would be worse.
Give it time. Don't stress about it. You have time - enjoy your little one now.

Re: Question about wanting more children
we always wanted 2-3 kids , but after everything I went through with pregnancy and the C-section and all , I don't think it's going to happen, olthough it's only been 4 months, they say once the baby gets older I 'll want more so we'll see maybe 4-5 years from now. The worst part is that my whole family is overseas and I don't really have any help , I mean MIL will babysit if I have something I need to do or if I ask(and I don't like to ask), my H is also trying to help out, and we can't afford the babysitter . so it's been very hard . so we'll see.

Re: Question about wanting more children
Well, call me pessimistic, I always wanted 2, but I am not at the point where I love this parenting thing so much that I want to do it again.....maybe not ever.....
DS is only 2 months and quite trying on my patience.

Re: Question about wanting more children
i always wanted 3, but after a rough pregnancy i would be happy with two. That being said me and my DH keep going back and forth on whether we want #2, some days i am so ready, other days i am not so sure. I guess i will see how i feel when DS is a little older

Re: Question about wanting more children
I want to start working on #2 as soon as we buy a house and are established there...I want my children to be no more than 2-3 years apart.
