This question maybe really dumb but I can not remember.... I know you have to wash baby cloths in detergant that is perfume/dye free but can you still use liquid fabric softener?? or does that have dyes and perfumes?? If not what do you use for fabric softener??
Thanks ladies!!

Re: question about washing clothes
I wouldn't.
When I first did DS' clothes I didn't use anything. Then my mom got me the Totally Toddler dryer sheets from BRU

Re: question about washing clothes
No fabric softener. It leaves a residue on the clothing that can irritate their very sensitive skin.

Re: question about washing clothes
i never used softener. I think dryer sheets break down the fire retardant material in some clothes as well.

Re: question about washing clothes
I just washed a whole bunch of the baby's clothes in the free & clear detergent & dried them with no fabric softener & they are still really soft. I would not risk the skin reaction or the breakdown of the fire retardant to be honest.
The brands I washed (FYI) were: Carters Little me Tommy Hillfiger and Rene something or other....

Re: question about washing clothes
I actually heard on here about the fire-retardant issue and I'm glad I knew before! I overdose our own clothes on the Downy Free softener

Re: question about washing clothes
I wouldn't. I have a lot of allergies and I've had reactions to fabric softeners. I will be assuming that anything that causes me to have skin allergies will be bad for the baby. I have also heard the thing about the fire retardant.
