I believe so as long as you are not positive for Strep B.

I would say the only thing you would have to worry about is the timing of the contractions. Assuming they aren't too close together you should be fine. You just don't want to wind up in the situation of your labor progressing quickly and not making it to the hospital in time.

But the likelihood of your labor moving that fast is probably not that high.

I do not see any other reason why it would be unsafe to shower after your water breaking.

of course depending on how much time your dr gives you....

I was told not to bathe, like sit in a bath, but showering was fine.

I don't think this makes a difference. As long as you're not taking a 4 hour shower being you should be fine weather you are strep b positive or not. With my 1st dc my water broke at home & I was strep b positive. I still showered before we left.

At lamaze this weekend they told me that we can take a quick shower, but no baths (they're afraid of infection if we sit in the water). You should call the doctor within about 20 - 30 mins of water breaking (if your not Strep B positive - right away if you are).
