Re: Question for anyone who is Jewish
I believe only if the baby was born on the previous shabbat and thus the 8th day is shabbat and it was natural. if it was a c-section or induced labor then it should be postponed to Sunday

As far as I know, yes, this is true, but talk to the moehle (sp?) or rabbi about it. If you are reform the rules might be more lenient I'm not sure.
I'm not Jewish, I just play one on TV, so someone else might know better.

I am not sure this is correct...I would contact your rabbi and/or the moel to find out. I think it might have to do with the cutting part of it. I also think that since they are done in the morning/early afternoon it might not be kosher to do it on the sabbath. ETA: I may be incorrect as varius mohel websites say they will perform on Saturdays.

Re: Question for anyone who is Jewish
Bris outrank anyday. It is very important. It even outranks the high holidays...You must speak with your mohel and he will tell you when the bris will be. It also depends on what time of day the baby is born, if it is after sunset it is considered the next day....
since you are having a c-section contact the mohel you are using and you will be able to come up with a date..

I believe this to be true. I had been to a bris performed on Rosh Hashanah in Manhattan. The mohel had to WALK from his home in the west 90s to the apartment in the 30s. He had to ask the doorman if he wasnt Jewish so he could push the buttons on the elevator as that is apparently forbidden on the Sabbath and the High Holy Days. We had to find a non-Jewish guest to push it for him on the way down. HOWEVER, if your mohel does not live near where you are, you may have no choice but to wait as it is likely he will not travel on the Sabbath if it is necessary to drive.
