Re: question for anyone who works in HR
I have two friends that are in HR. One got in through her initial field (works in HR at a company that does what she used to do). The other just sent in resumes, interviewed and got a job. He came from a federal government job (management position though)

Re: question for anyone who works in HR
The best way to learn is from the ground up. Start as an HR Asst or and HR Coordinator. The classes will help, of course, but the everyday, real life aspect of it - you will learn A LOT! Good luck!

Re: question for anyone who works in HR
My whole career has been in HR. I would recommend checking out SHRM Society for Human Resource Management) as a starting point. If you have a 4 year degree, you can get your PHR as a starting point to get into HR. It is not an easy field to break into so the more related education you have, the better. Good luck!
