Question for Lab owners
Could you PLEASE tell me how you control the shedding!!! I have a 3.5 year old chocolate lab and the shedding is driving me crazy!!! I'm brushing my dog at least once a week with the de-shedding comb & Bamboo brush & she's shedding more than ever!
Please tell me what you do/use to control the shedding! TIA!!!
Here's what I'm using:

Re: Question for Lab owners
My mom has the same problem with her yellow lab. The shedding is uncontrollable..
She even wanted him shaved alittle, but no one would shave him, b/c the hair could grow back wierd...
I know this doesn't help, but I'm glad she's not the only one.. I thought it was b/c she doesn't brush him everyday...

Re: Question for Lab owners
Don't worry, there is relief. Just not soon.
This is the time of year that they shed. Yes, mine is shedding like MAD too. It's also funny because the hair that's loose is a lighter color so he looks like he's got some kind of condition.
Anyway, we use the Furminator once a week, which is insanely good. However. It is an undercoat rake which means it goes pretty deep and can scratch their skin. You have to be gentle and not use it too much. You're only supposed to make one pass on one area to avoid hurting them. I also heard it strips the hair, although I haven't seen that much.
We only Furminate once a week. Every other day of the week, we use this:
It's made by Kong, it's called a Zoom Groom. Doesn't look like much right? The rubber causes static electricity and the hair sticks to it. It doesn't hurt them, but it does do a good job. I only do this outside because although it loosens a lot of hair, it doesn't trap all of it. So be prepared to have it flying around.
I hope this helps! Don't worry, it won't last forever.

What exactly is a Furminator? I'll have to look this one up online. This is another tool I use (I forgot I used it b/c I just started it a couple weeks ago). I can't believe I didn't think of it before! It's a curry comb like the ones I used to use when I had horses in FL (I use the one on the left). It's kind of like your Zoom Groom. My dog LOVES IT! She thinks it's for her own personal massage!Image Attachment(s):
