Question For Mom's of 17 Month Olds

My best friend is worried because her daughter doesn't say anything other than "mama", "dada" and "hi" at 17 months old. And she's a Worrywart to begin with, lol.

I keep telling her not to worry and her daughter will talk when she's ready. She keeps comparing our daughters (my DD is only 13 month old and talks quite a bit) But I keep pointing out that although my DD talks a lot, she doesn't walk and her DD walks well and has since she's 11 months old, she doesn't talk.

So my question to the moms is this: How many words does your 17 month old say and what does your Ped say about it?

TIA ladies!

Tell your friend not to worry. DS is 17 months old and says clearly maybe about 10 words. My nephew is 19 months old and he does not say much either. My sister's ped said that he will talk when he is ready. Every child is different and progresses differently.

At 17 months my DD was barely saying anything then literally a month later the words started coming and now they don't stop!

My friends 2 year old daughter JUST started talking. They were very worried at 18 months and all of a sudden around 23 months the words started and now she is doing great!

Thanks Ladies! I'll pass along the info to her. I kept telling her not to worry!!! Oh it didn't help that her idiot ped told her that her DD is speech delayed....
and overweight, which she is absolutely not...

I'd like to meet her ped in a dark alley, lolChat Icon
