Question for my tattooed peeps! Specifically Classic/Old School tattoos

If you have any classic tattoos, are ALL of them classic?
I have 5 tattoos. None are classic.
I'm new to the style and I REALLY love it! I want a classic tattoo. I already have one picked out, but I am not sure what the "rule" is with them. Is it silly to get one (and more in the future, I'm sure) if I don't already have that genre of art?

TIA

Well, I think of my body as a canvas. I have several "styles" going on. I have my left arm in a Japanese style, my right arm is henna style, my side is 'realistic' and 5/23 i have an appt for my first 'old school' tattoo on my wrist.

I think you can have all one style and still not have it flow well and it looks like a big mess or mix up a bunch of styles and still have it look good. it's all in the placement & execution.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I appreciate it and value your opinion on this stuff! I was trying to envision what it would look like with mixed styles and I guess because what I already have is so minimal, I thought it might look pretty cool and not so out of place.

Just an example. Distinct style and colors mostly bright. They also can be called Traditional and Classic style.

Re: Question for my tattooed peeps! Specifically Classic/Old School tattoos

i have many old school tattoos. and originally started with that style on my arm which is now a full old school sleeve. as well as my other arm which is all pieces.
however, i also have japanese style, portraits & realistic, etc etc...

you def do not have to stick with one style, but it should be done aesthetically pleasing however. if you have two dif styles in the same area it may look alittle odd. (example: a traditional ship right next to a bio mech deisgn)
it just has to be done right.

after managing and apprenticing in a tattoo shop for the past 3 years(& being about 80%+ covered) i can tell you (& have seen) a person can have many dif styles on their body and look amazing while another person can have a bunch of dif styles as well and look a mess. it all depends on how it is done.
good luck!!!!!

I think that you can definitely mix and match

I don't know the right terminology BUT DH has an old school snake on his arm and then framing it he did an all black dragon in an almost Asian inspired style? I think it looks awesome!

On one calf he has really beautiful and colorful flames and then the other calf is a black moon/evil skull thingie. LOL

DH has one old school/classic the rest are other. I have no idea what to classify them as. I have 4 tattoos and I don't think any of mine are classic.
