Question for new moms and stomach issues...
I had a vaginal delivery and since coming home, my stomach had been so upset. I feel like I have IBS. Everything I eat just hasn't agreed with me. Is this just from my nerves adjusting to being a new mom, could it be my body getting back to normal? I do drink coffee and I know isn't the best thing to have when your stomach is sour AND I really haven't eaten a decent meal which probably is contributing to the problem.
I just want to know if any other mom has experienced this and when will it stop.
Thanks!

I hope it gets better soon! I have the WORST stomach and it has gotten worse since having my son over 2 years ago and I had a c-section... I hope you don't end up like me!
If you like yogurt, I find that one a day keeps it a little bit better. My stomach is so bad that I avoid going out to eat It's very horrible.

Re: Question for new moms and stomach issues...
After I had DS everything I ate would upset my tummy and then I would have to go to the bathroom right away!! Sorry TMI! I saw my surgeon who took out my gallbladder before I was pg b/c I thought maybe something was wrong from that and he told me that sometimes when you have a vaginal delivery you can stretch out your sphincter (sp?) and that usually within 6-9 months it goes back to normal. For me it did. Another TMI, I asked him what the sphincter was and he said it's the muslce or whatever that keeps #2 in until you go to the bathroom. Sorry for being so graphic! As for why my stomach was upset all the time, I don't know, but I do think it was a mixture of nerves, crazy hormones, stretching stuff out....LOL Hang in there!

Re: Question for new moms and stomach issues...
I had a c-sect 3.5 weeks ago, and ended up with a serious bacterial infection in my colon from the antibiotics i was given. it was so bad that I couldn't even keep water down without it gong through me in 3 minutes. I was a day away from being rehospitalized for dehydration when they figured out what was wrong with me and got me on the right medicatons. I was unable to eat solid food for 10 days. the only good side was that I lost 28 lbs - all my pregnancy weight from not eating.
Were you given antibiotics for any reason while you were in the hospital? I'd ask your Dr about bacterial infections just to be safe. I don't mean to scare you, I'm just paranoid because of what happened to me...

Re: Question for new moms and stomach issues...
It will get back to normal. Sometimes I find it helps to keep taking the pranatal vitamins, in a case like that, because the extra calcium and iron help to slow things down a little.
Lauren, I was totally like you before I had kids. Wouldn't go out to eat ever because I would ultimately end up in the bathroom with horrible cramping, and .. you know... (Sorry TMI). Once I got pregnant and my digestive track slowed, I've been 1000x times better. As I said above, I still take loaded vitamins and I believe they help.
