Question for OPK Users with Long and/or Irregular Cycles
What day in your cycle do you start with the OPK's? This is going to be my first month using them and I'm not sure when to start. My cycle last month was 39 days so assuming a normal luteal phase I should have ovulated between CD23 and CD27.
Do I still start on CD10 with the OPK's or should I wait until more like 15-20? What do you guys do?

Re: Question for OPK Users with Long and/or Irregular Cycles
I start my OPK's on CD18. My cycles are anywhere between 32 days and 40 days. Like this month I got my positive OPK on CD25..so I expect my cycle to be about 39 days. You don't have to start on CD10. I did that one month and I felt as though I was testing forever.

Re: Question for OPK Users with Long and/or Irregular Cycles
The OPKS should have instrutions. They will ask you the length of your last cycle and will give you a corresponding number of which cycle day to start testing. Thats what I did.

Yes - you should use the day that the OPK instructions tell you. Don't be discouraged though if you go thru the whole pack without getting a +. Just keep on testing! the second cycle i waited until I saw EWCM to start testing but i wouldnt recommend that as you could easily miss the surge. Good luck!

Re: Question for OPK Users with Long and/or Irregular Cycles
my last two cycles have been 45 days, but I've been so unpredictable, that I start using the OPKs on CD10, I also use the CBEFM, so I start whenever the monitor tells me to

Re: Question for OPK Users with Long and/or Irregular Cycles
My cycle was anywhere from 27-39 days.
I used the 20 pack OPK's starting around CD 10. I would test first thing in the morning and around 4 PM every day.
The 20 packs are cheaper and work just as well as the digital IMO. I would BD until the test was negative again.

Re: Question for OPK Users with Long and/or Irregular Cycles
The first time I used them I started on CD8 because that was what the package said. Based on the results for all subsequent cycles I started on CD10.

Re: Question for OPK Users with Long and/or Irregular Cycles
Ahh, instructions
I'll check those out but I think maybe for the first month using them I will start on the standard CD8 and keep going until I get the +. I think I do have long and irregular cycles but if I am just irregular I don't want to miss the surge this month.
Oh, I bought the Target brand. Even though it's only a 7-pack it works out to about $1/test so about the same as the Answer ones.
Thanks

Those packs can get costly. I was using the saliva OPK because it's reusable. It worked for us!!!!!!!!
