Question for people who got pregnant while on b/c
I was reading a post a while back about how many people unexpectedly got pregnant while on birth control.
Quite a few people were saying that this happened to them.
How exactly does this happen? I know that with the pill, it's SUPPOSED to be 99% effective.  And it seemed like quite a few people were saying this happened to them..
I would imagine that condoms weren't being used.. but was the cycle of b/c pills messed up? Did antibiotics cause them to become ineffective? Am I missing something?
Not passing judgement what-so-ever.. I messed up my birth control and now have a beautiful little man to show for it

i had skipped the last week of 1 pack so id get my period early on vacation, then was on antibiotics, then missed the first few pills of pack. im not sure which one was the final cause...probably a culmination.

Okay.. this is the kind of thing I was figuring happened to most people. That's similar to what happened to me.
I was just left over here thinking that SO MANY people got preg while on b/c and not using condoms.
It was making me think that b/c is not really working so well for some people.. meaning that they were taking it as directed and still getting preg

The pill is not 99% effective. Well, no, thats not exactly true. It IS 99% effective if you take it at the EXACT SAME TIME each and every single day and are not taking antibiotics.
However, if you take it at noon one day, and then forget and take it at 3 the next day, and then 11 the day after, and so on.... even by a few hours, it takes the "effectiveness" down to around 95%.
The only surefire way to NOT get pregnant is to not have sex.
EDA: I have a friend who got PG after having her tubes tied! Nothing is impossible.

I was late taking it a few times during that cycle because I was traveling for work and I was in different time zones. Go figure. Oh well... I got the greatest gift of all though

Oh my god 
I NEVER take it at the same time.. usually sometime at night.. but thats anywhere from 6-12pm
Whoa... I had no idea it was THAT important to take it on time.. my doctor never stressed this to me..

i think what did me in was that i had a bad stomach virus... was throwing up for a week... and well 9 months later... my thought was that one pill just didnt stay down

I went away for a weekend and forgot to take the pack of pills with me. so when i got home i took 3 pills at a time.

u should set an alarm clock. i set my cell phone for 8pm everynite for bc pills when i was on it.. it really really helped me rememeber!!!

Did you feel awful from taking three at once? When I have missed one, I feel lousy from taking 2 in one day. I get a bad headache. Now when I miss one, I will not take 2 at once. I just take my next one and then use a backup for that month. I used to be so perfect about my pill timing but I got worse with age!!!
