Question for runners who used running to lose weight
How many days per week did you run? When did you increase the # of days?
How long did each run last? Or how many miles would you do each time you ran?
I am trying to put my self on a schedule and incorporate my runs into my daily/weekly routine so there are no excuses not to get them in. I was running 3 days a week but then I fell off completely only running here & there.
I want to run enough to help with my weight loss but I don't want to over do it or burn myself out by trying to run everyday.
TIA!

Re: Question for runners who used running to lose weight
My advice is do not increase your mileage too quickly, otherwise all you will be left with are injuries. The rule for increasing is mileage is 10% per week.
For example:
Week 1: You run 3 days - 5 miles for a total of 15 miles
Week 2: Max of 16.5 miles
Week 3: Max of 18.15 miles
And so on....
I did some lose weight and improve my times by increasing mileage.
As someone else stated on the other post, interval training will work wonders for weight loss. Yesterday for example, I ran a 20 minute warm up and then i did a hill workout. I ran up a 800m, steep hill as fast as I possibly could 5 times, trying to keep my times consistent. I then did a 20 minute cool down.

Find a training plan to follow online! I know you said you already did the C25K. Find a training plan for a 10k.

i am currently training for a marathon but when i am running to lose or maintain weight loss i run at least 4x a week or 5 days sometimes. i was at like zero mileage back in january. started doing weekends only in like feb. added another day in the early spring. then another as spring went on. then went to 5 days once my training plan was put into place. i follow what the schedule says. i do not increase my mileage more than 10% a week. last week i did: 3m,6m,3m,12m,xtrain,xtrain,rest this week: 4m,7m,4m,14m, xtrain, xtrain
but a few months ago i was running maybe 5 miles as my longest run for the week. so it was more like 3m, 5m, 3m, 2m it depended on my schedule. are you interested in maybe doing a 5k or 10k? you could follow one of those plans as a guide. the race could be your own personal challenge and keep you motivated too. i always need a goal in order to keep running-but that's me. running and doing WW (which i have eased up on) have helped me lose nearly 15lbs since april. and don't run every day-do every other maybe and cross train too. sorry for the long response!

Re: Question for runners who used running to lose weight
I've lost quiet a bit of weight from running. I run 4 days a week now but when I first started I ran 3-4 days a week. I would increase it about 10% a week.
