Question for Teachers about Children with WOHP's and SAHP's
I am in a discussion on another board about being able to tell if a child had a sahm (or dad) or wohm before they entered kindergarten. I don't think you can tell the difference between the two but she said she can tell because the sahm child was more polite, more well behaved. My son is very polite and his toddler teacher told me he is one of the best kids in class and the most well behaved. My dd has ADHD so she is very hyper and even though she knows her manners, sometimes she just does not show them.
P.S. I am a wohm but don't take any insult to what any teacher will say as I am just trying to get an idea of what different goes on in the class than what I see outside. Thanks!

I disagree, I am a teacher and think that even the kids with sahm can have zero manners. It has nothing to do with whether or not their parents work, it has to do with whether or not their parents teach them those things. I feel that's a no brainer, don't you think?

It's not if you stay at home or not, its how you raise them. My mom worked and I must say I turned out pretty well. DH's mom stayed home and he is very well mannered as well.

Re: Question for Teachers about Children with WOHP's and SAHP's
I've seen kids with SAHMs who are about the most obnoxious things ever and those with SAHMs who were amazing. I've seen kids with working parents who were spoiled brats and those with working parents who are so well adjusted and responsible. It's about the parenting, stay at home or working, it's all about the parenting and what the parents instill in their children.
ETA: I'm an only child from divorced parents and a working mom...according to ever survey, I should be a monster. I think I'm doing okay and I know my momma is proud.

I totally agree with you but this woman was trying to tell me otherwise. My mother trys to tell me that my kids don't listen because they go to daycare and I can not give them undivided attention at night because I am too tired!! She is a militant sahm-lol!! I personally think my kids don't listen becauase....THEY ARE KIDS!!!

I would think that if they go to daycare, they'd have more experience having to follow directions,no I mean, they have to work as a group, and not be all about just themselves all day. THat's HARD for a kid! I stand firm in the fact that it's how you parent. Tell your friend it's not enough to just stay home, she has to put in the effort to parent them Just kidding, just kidding..

i'm a teacher and i agree with the others- it has nothing to do with whether you SAH or not... its how you raise the kids. i actually find that sometimes, the kids with SAHMs are more bratty because they are used to having all attention on them.... it can go either way, its all about how you parent when you are with the kids.
