Question for the Camera Experts!
I'm looking to brave the sales tomorrow and get a new point and shoot camera. My friend has tried a lot of cameras and RAVES about her Nikon Coolpix - so I am prob going in that direction. The pics of her sons are always fantastic quality. Is 12 megapixels 5x zoom good enough or should I go for (for $50 more) 10 megapixels 15x zoom. If it makes a difference the second camera has a protruding lens (looks more like an SLR) so it's not a true pocket camera...
Thanks for any advice!

Re: Question for the Camera Experts!
A. make sure optical zoom is higher.. make sure this is different then digital zoom which you don't want to use.
B. if you are not blowing up pics to a large scale, 10 mega pixels is fine.
The lens is probably comes out due to the zooming being so much better.

BB - so you're saying I should go with second? Higher zoom? It is optical zoom, btw. Reviews seem good - one con I keep seeing is short battery life!

Re: Question for the Camera Experts!
if you are talking about the s570, the two cameras are both good.
Now the questions is, do you need the extra zoom and how compact do you want it.
Battery wise, the L100 takes double AA's which is ok, but 4!! The camera is more powerful then the s570. I like batteries that can recharge, then again, you can always add more batteries (rechargeable or store brought)
L100 is doing more work for you being that it has a better processor. Lens are the same with the exception of the zoom and all the other features are standard. Its now more, what do you want. Personally, l prefer the L100. This seems almost like a hybrid SLR but not..think of it as a crossover as you get some higher features.

Re: Question for the Camera Experts!
We're having a baby in Jan, so I just want a "good" camera. My older Sony Cybershot is very slow in terms of time it takes the photo from the time you're pressing the button - so I want something that's going to be faster to catch the shot, something simple to use, and something with more zoom than I have now - which is barely anything. Thanks for all your help with this!
