Question for the Jewish ladies

A friend of mine is currently in labor. I am not sure what to do for a gift for the bris or baby naming ceremony. She didn't have a shower but registered. Should I get the baby a savings bond or is it ok to get something off the registry.
Thanks!

Re: Question for the Jewish ladies

Get something off the registry. Are you going to attend the bris?

Re: Question for the Jewish ladies

Yes, DH and I will attend whatever ceremony they have. We just weren't sure what to do in terms of the gift.

Re: Question for the Jewish ladies

I would get something off the registry or a gift card to the store where she has a registry. Then for the baby naming, bring another small gift.

I would bring something up to the hospital off the registry and for the bris I like your savings bond idea.

Hollie you can ALWAYS bring a plate of your new favorite Jewish delicacy - DERMA!

A registry gift is always acceptable. I usually bring clothing sized for the next period of growth. I never buy newborn sizes but thats just me.

I would dfinately not give cash for a bris...

When Jacob was born and had his bris, we got clothes and things off the registry...

I do the same thing. If it's a close friend, I like to buy something for the baby's room, like the mobile. Mazel Tov to your friend!

boy babies have a bris and sometimes a pidyon ha-ben (for the 1st boy child). only girls have a naming ceremony.

i would get a savings bond for the baby.
that is what is commonly done.

Yes I know that boys have a bris.. I think it really depends if your friend has a boy or girl-- if she has a boy, the bris will be done right away-- so, one gift. The baby naming is not always done straight away-- like, I just went to my friend's daughter's baby naming yesterday and hee daughter is 5 months old-- so two gifts.

If your friend has a boy-- maybe bring a little something to the hospital if you visit-- something for her, or some food gift or somethign and a little thing for the baby and give a bigger gift for the bris.

If they have a registry I would give something off of that for the bris.
