question for the pregnant ladies
I am not preggo, but DH and I are talking about when we will TTC. I'm curious how does a baby belly feel different than a regular belly?
I know this is a silly ?, but I am curious!
ETA -- I'm not asking about the later on part when you can feel the baby moving, etc... I guess I'm curious in the beginning when it isn't necessarily that noticeable.

Re: question for the pregnant ladies
In the beginning, you can't feel anything different, other than maybe feeling bloated.
Then you start to feel your uterus get a little hard if you sleep on your stomach after a couple of weeks.
When you start to have a belly, it feels almost like you have a jelly filled balloon in your stomach-and you can no longer 'suck it in'.
I think that's pretty accurate.

Agreed. It's HARD. Not mushy.

Re: question for the pregnant ladies
I'm 13 weeks now and my belly does not really feel differently yet. The heartburn, nausea and utter exhaustion is another thing though!

Re: question for the pregnant ladies
I didn't feel any different until I felt the baby moving. I didn't really show or get a belly until 24 weeks or so. There are pictures in my album. When it first started growing it was hard and very different than fat on a stomach would feel.

I just feel fat in the belly.. like the fattest I have ever been and there is no hiding it or sucking it in.

Re: question for the pregnant ladies
i would agree that in the beginning you really cannot feel much of a difference.
Right now I am 25 weeks (tomorrow actually). Lately I have been feeling the changes and making comparisons as to how my body felt pre-pregancy and now. Also, I have been considerably heavier in my life. I weighed about 115 pounds more than my pre-pregnancy weight. Though my physical movement was harder and certainly not as swift, being PG is VASTLY different than just having excess body weight. The muscles feel different. Sometimes the skin is different - you can feel it stretch. I actually feel more weighted down with a baby than I did being morbidly obese and so far I have only gained about 15 pounds. Just an entirely different feeling.

Re: question for the pregnant ladies
Early on I just felt really, really bloated! It was so uncomfortable trying to wear my regular pants! I thought I was huge and when I look at pictures from me at like 7, 10, or even 12 weeks, I barely see the bump (compared to now especially).

Re: question for the pregnant ladies
the main difference from 6-13 weeks is the bloat... and my tummy was very sensitive to pressure. I could still fit into my jeans, but the super-mild pressure at the waistline was very uncomfy. It was then that I transitioned to elastic waists (and felt fine again).
Most of the sensations early on are more like having a cold.... nausea, loss of appetite (due to nausea), and fatigue of varying degrees.
